Number Protection & Reports: Keep Your Phone Numbers Safe
A phone number is often the key to your bank, your email and your customers. Number hijacking and unauthorised port-outs are a growing risk, so every number held in the NumbersRing portal comes with extra protection and a clear record of what is happening on it.
Why phone numbers need protecting
In a port-out scam, someone who has gathered a few of your details asks another carrier to move your number to them. Once it moves, your calls and verification texts go to them, and that is often all they need to reset passwords on your other accounts.
For a business the damage goes further: a well-known number that stops working means missed customers, and getting it back can take days. Prevention is far easier than recovery.
How NumbersRing protects your numbers
Transfer Lock
While the lock is on, no carrier can move the number, even with your PIN. Turn it off from the Port Out tab only when you genuinely want to port out.
Port-out PIN
Each number has its own port-out PIN, shown only to you in the portal. A transfer request without the right details is rejected.
Change alerts
We email you every time the lock or your PIN changes, so an unexpected change never goes unnoticed.
Ownership handovers
Transferring a number to another person only completes when they accept the invitation from their own NumbersRing account.
Reports that show what is happening
Protection works best when you can see your activity at a glance. The portal keeps a running record for every number:
- Call logs – every inbound and outbound call, with time, duration and whether it was answered, forwarded or sent to voicemail.
- Message history – texts sent and received on the number.
- Voicemail inbox – every message, with an email notification as soon as one arrives.
- Transfer status – clear updates when a port is requested, approved, completed or rejected, including what to fix.
Five habits that keep your numbers safe
-
1
Keep Transfer Lock on
Leave it switched on for every number you are not actively moving.
-
2
Treat your PIN like a password
Never share your port-out PIN by phone, text or email with anyone who contacts you first.
-
3
Use a strong account password
Your portal login protects every number in it. Use a unique password you do not use anywhere else.
-
4
Read every alert
If you receive a lock or PIN change email you did not expect, contact our support team straight away.
-
5
Review your call logs
A quick look now and then helps you spot unusual activity early.
NumbersRing staff will never ask you for your account password or your port-out PIN.

Will I know if someone changes my settings?
Yes. We email you every time the Transfer Lock or your port-out PIN changes on any of your numbers.
What if I really do want to move my number?
