Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information NumbersRing (“NumbersRing”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use numbersring.com, your customer portal and our phone number services, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using our website or services you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number, company name and password. Passwords are stored only in a protected (hashed) form that we cannot read.
  • Order and billing details: the numbers you buy, the plans you choose, your billing address and your order history. Card payments are entered on and processed by our payment processor; we do not store your full card number.
  • Number settings: where your calls forward to, your caller ID choice, greetings, phone menus and other settings you save for each number.
  • Transfer (porting) details: when you bring a number to us or take one away, the details the carriers require, such as your account number, transfer or port-out PIN, billing telephone number, authorised name and service address.
  • Seller details: if you apply to sell numbers on our marketplace, your legal name, mailing address, a completed IRS Form W-9 and the PayPal account you want to be paid to.
  • Marketplace activity: offers you make or receive, counter-offers, purchase requests, your wishlists and “Notify Me” requests.
  • Messages to us: what you send through the Help Desk or contact form, and any phone or text conversations with our team.

Information created when you use your numbers

  • Call records: the calling and called numbers, time, duration and outcome of calls to and from your numbers.
  • Voicemail: voicemail recordings left on your numbers, so you can play them in your portal.
  • Text messages: if you turn on text messaging, the messages sent and received on your numbers.

Information collected automatically

  • Your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit.
  • Your approximate location (state and city), worked out from your IP address, so we can show “Numbers Near Me”.
  • Information from cookies and similar technologies, described in section 4.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide our services: setting up your account, activating your numbers, routing your calls and texts, recording voicemail and showing your call history.
  • To process orders, plans and payments, and to send receipts.
  • To carry out number transfers in and out, and ownership handovers you request.
  • To run the marketplace: listing numbers, passing offers between buyers and sellers, and paying sellers.
  • To send service emails you need, such as order confirmations, transfer updates, offer updates, voicemail alerts and security notices (for example when your Transfer Lock or PIN changes).
  • To protect you and us: verifying accounts, preventing fraud, spam and unauthorised transfers, and keeping the site secure.
  • To answer your questions and provide support.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations (for example W-9 records for seller payouts).
  • To improve the website and our services.
  • To send you news and offers, only if you subscribe to our updates. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to provide our services:

  • Telecommunications carriers and number suppliers that provide, route and transfer phone numbers, so your numbers work and transfers can be completed.
  • Payment processors that handle card payments and, for sellers, payout providers such as PayPal.
  • Service providers that run parts of our service for us: email delivery, our customer support system, secure file storage (for documents such as W-9 forms), bot protection on our forms (Google reCAPTCHA), IP location lookup and, if you allow analytics cookies, website analytics (Google Analytics). They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
  • Other customers, only where a transaction needs it: when a number is sold or handed over, it moves to the new owner’s account; a seller and a buyer see the details of the offers between them.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of NumbersRing, our customers or others.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of our business, where your information would continue to be protected by this policy.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

When you first visit, we ask which cookies you accept. You can choose Accept All, Necessary Only, or Customize to pick each kind, and change your choice at any time from Cookie Settings at the bottom of every page.

  • Strictly necessary (always on): a session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your cart; a “remember me” cookie, only if you choose to stay signed in, lasting up to 30 days; a cookie that remembers your cookie choice for one year; and cookies our payment processor (Stripe) uses to keep payments secure and prevent fraud. Browser storage is also used for small things that only matter to your visit, such as saving a number you hearted before signing in once you do.
  • Preferences: remember choices you make on the site between visits.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. It is only loaded if you allow analytics cookies, and if you later turn them off we stop it and remove its cookies. Google’s use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Marketing: show you relevant NumbersRing offers on other websites.

Preferences, analytics and marketing cookies are only used if you allow them. Some pages load content from other providers (for example fonts, Google reCAPTCHA on our forms and embedded videos), and those providers may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you will not be able to stay signed in without the necessary ones.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is open and as long as needed to provide our services. If you close your account, we stop using it for your service, but we keep records of orders, payments, transfers and offers for as long as we need them for legal, tax, accounting and dispute purposes. A number you cancel stays in your Recently Deleted list for a short grace period, during which you can restore it, and is then released.

6. How we protect your information

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, store passwords only in hashed form, keep sensitive documents in private storage, and limit access to the people who need it to run the service. Your numbers also have their own protection: a port-out PIN and an optional Transfer Lock that stops anyone moving a number without your permission. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and never share your PIN.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Update your details at any time from your portal profile.
  • Close your account from your portal profile (your password is required).
  • Stop marketing emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them. Service emails about your account and numbers will still be sent.
  • Ask for a copy of your information, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by contacting us. We will respond within the time required by law. We may need to keep some records, as described in section 5.

California residents: you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request access to and deletion of it, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children: our services are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and if the changes are significant we will let you know by email or on the site.
