Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about finding, buying, transferring and managing your number — answered.

Buying a Number

Finding the right number and what happens after you order.

A vanity number is a phone number that spells a word or forms a memorable pattern, like (800) FLOWERS or (305) 222-2222. It works exactly like any other number — the only difference is that people remember it. Businesses use them so customers can recall how to reach them without looking anything up.

Use the search on the home page. Pick Local or Toll-Free, choose a state and area code if you want a local presence, and type a word, phrase or pattern. You can also browse by state, by industry, or by number pattern such as repeaters and millions.

A local number carries a city or regional area code, which tells callers you are part of their community. A toll-free number (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877 or 888) is free for the caller anywhere in the US and Canada and reads as a national brand. Both can be vanity numbers and both work with every plan.

Yes. You pay once for the number and it is yours to keep as long as the account stays active. You can route it, text from it, transfer it to another person, port it to another carrier, or list it for sale on our marketplace at any time from your portal.

Numbers in our own inventory are usually live in your portal within minutes of a completed order. Some premium numbers are sourced from partner carriers and are delivered by our team — those typically take one to three business days, and we email you the moment the number is ready.

You can start checkout as a guest. During checkout you enter an email address and password, and that becomes your NumbersRing account — it is where your number, its settings and your receipts live, so there is nothing extra to set up afterwards.

Transfers & Porting

Bringing a number to us, or taking one with you.

Yes — this is called porting in. Start on Transfer a Number: we check that the number can be ported, then ask for your current carrier's billing details (account number, transfer PIN and service address). You pick a plan, pay, and we submit the request to your carrier. Keep your current service active until the port finishes, or the number can be lost.

Most ports complete in 3 to 10 business days once your current carrier approves the request. We email you at every step — when the request is received, when your carrier approves it with a switch-over date, and when the number is live on your account. A rejection (usually a mismatched account number, PIN or address) is emailed with exactly what to fix.

Yes. Use Multi-number transfer to add a list of numbers, check them all in one go and port them together on a single request, with one plan per number.

Open the number in your portal and go to the Port Out tab. It shows everything your new carrier's port form asks for: account number, port-out PIN, billing telephone number, authorised name and service address. Give those details to the new carrier — they start the port, and it takes 3 to 10 business days. We email you when the number has moved.

Transfer Lock protects a number from being ported away without your permission. While it is on, no carrier can move the number — even with your PIN. Turn it on from the Port Out tab in your portal, and turn it off when you genuinely want to port out. We email you every time the lock or your PIN changes.

Yes. From the number's Options tab choose Transfer Ownership, enter the new owner's name and the email of their NumbersRing account, and they receive a link to accept. The number only moves when they accept, and a small one-time handover fee applies — you choose who pays it.

Plans & Billing

What you pay once, what you pay monthly, and how to change it.

Two things: a one-time price for the number itself, shown on its card, and a monthly plan that keeps the number live and decides how calls are handled. Optional add-ons such as text messaging are billed per number per month. Every charge is itemised on the Billing page of your portal before you pay.

Park is the lowest-cost way to hold a number you are not using yet — it stays yours and can be upgraded any time. Forwarding plans send calls to a phone you already have, so the number rings on your mobile or office line. You pick a plan per number, and you can change it from the Options tab whenever your needs change.

Yes. Each number has its own billing period. Open the number's Options tab and choose Change Billing Period to switch between monthly and annual.

Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards, bank wire, cryptocurrency, and escrow for high-value numbers. Choose the method at the last step of checkout; wire and escrow orders are confirmed by our team once the funds arrive.

Cancelling from the Options tab stops the monthly charges straight away and removes the number from your account. It sits in Recently Deleted for a grace period during which you can restore it with one click; after that it is released and cannot be recovered.

Marketplace & Selling

Offers, premium numbers, and selling a number you own.

Those are premium numbers whose price is agreed individually, or numbers held by partner carriers that we source on request. Click Contact Agent, tell us a little about your business, and a member of our team comes back to you with availability and a price — usually within one business day.

On numbers that allow it, enter the amount you are willing to pay. The seller can accept, decline or send a counter-offer, and you are emailed at each step. An accepted offer becomes a normal order at that price. You can follow every offer under Offer Status in your portal.

Yes. Open the number in your portal, go to the Sell tab, set your asking price and whether you accept offers, and it appears on the marketplace. While a listing is live the number's port-out details are locked, so a buyer can rely on it still being here. Remove the listing at any time.

It puts you on the waiting list for that exact number. If it is released, relisted or returned to inventory, you get an email with a direct link to buy it before it is shown to everyone else.

Account & Support

Your portal, your settings, and how to reach a human.

Everything lives in your portal. Each number has tabs for Calls (greetings, forwarding, voicemail), Messages (text messaging), Options (plan, billing period, nickname, ownership transfer, cancellation) and Port Out. The portal also holds your orders, offers, wishlist, payment methods and billing history.

Yes. Turn on text messaging from the number's Messages tab. It is a small monthly add-on per number, and once active you can read and reply to conversations right inside the portal.

Check your spam or promotions folder first — the email comes from NumbersRing. If it is not there, use Log in and request a new link; it is valid for a limited time. Still stuck? Message us and we will verify the address for you.

Text us at 225-600-0000, call 800-540-0000, or send a message from the Help Desk. Porting questions get the fastest answer if you include the number and the name of the carrier involved.
